Generally speaking, people expect to get paid for their services and I initially took a little flak for being one of the first internet DJs to want to paid for the mixes I was producing. But many of you have been willing to financially support my work, and even more fans continue to encourage me, and I really appreciate that.

Starting in 2012, I also will periodically give out coupon codes for free mixes through this email newsletter. And of course, you email subscribers know that you already get access to the individual songs I use in my mixes.

Introducing the mixShop

Got some big news! DJ Colicky Boy fans who are not Premium Members can now buy individual mixes at djcolickyboy.com, without even needing to register or log in.

Each DJ mix on the site will be available for individual sale at $1.99 each. You can buy individual mixes in one of two ways:

• Go to each individual mix page and click the "Add to Cart" button if you want to buy it, or
• Go to the mixShop page, which is sorted in alphabetical order, and click the "Add to Cart" button for each mix you want to buy.

When you're ready to check out, click the "Go to checkout" link in the pop-up message if you're on the mixShop page, or click the "Go to checkout" link in the new "Shopping Cart" section in the right sidebar. You'll need a PayPal account (if you don't have one, you can sign up for free in seconds) and you can pay with a credit card.

If you like most mixes, then a monthly membership will probably end up a better deal for you. But if you only want to get a few mixes but not all of them, this new pay-per-mix option is just for you.

Introducing DJColickyBoy.com

As you know, I haven't been very active making DJ mixes the past two months. Time has become increasingly scarce. Other non-music projects kept finding me, and it's been a lot of hard work to maintain this mix blog. It was costing me time & money. With a growing family, increasing projects, and dwindling time to continue providing free DJ mixes to fans, I had to find a way to break even.

A win-win solution

For the two years that I've been posting on this site, I've produced 168 free DJ mixes for everyone. People tell me they love loading up their MP3 player with these mixes for their workouts, their daily jog, heading out to the beach, making their daily commute to work more enjoyable, listening at home or in the car, and everywhere else. But free time is something I'm losing quickly. In order for me to continue, I've created DJColickyBoy.com, where I'll continue to provide DJ mixes for members who pay a small monthly fee.

This is by no means a ploy to get rich. No, I do not plan to quit my day job. But offering memberships to access the DJ mixes will allow you to continue getting the DJ mixes you're used to while also making it worthwhile for me to continue providing the mixes. Everyone wins.

To celebrate the launch of djcolickyboy.com, I'm releasing my latest DJ mix free to everyone: Nonstop New Wave Mix #36. You can listen to a 3-minute sample of the mix on the site as well as download it. I also already have Nonstop New Wave Mix #37 completed but will wait until I finish the year-end mixes (80s, New Wave, Club, Trance and Hands Up) before posting it. Nonstop New Wave Mix #36 will only be free until Wed, Dec 15th. Afterwards, it will be available only to monthly members. The forthcoming year-end mixes for 2010, like all other DJ mixes, will also only be available to monthly members.

For those who can't afford the $4.99 monthly membership, I'm offering free memberships at djcolickyboy.com. A free membership allows access to any one DJ mix every 90 days. At an average 5 mixes per month, that means a free member can download any 1 of the 15 different DJ mixes during those 90 days. To become a free member, simply register or sign in with your Facebook account on the right side of the djcolickyboy.com site. So if you're unsure whether to buy a monthly membership, I hope you at least take advantage of the free membership...you have nothing to lose.

What happens to this blog?

The only change here is that new DJ mixes won't be posted here for free download. I'll still post here when a new DJ mix is posted at djcolickyboy.com but will post the 3-minute sample instead. This will keep you informed of what the latest mix is and you can get a flavor for what is in the mix. I'll also post the cover art for the individual songs used in the mixes, as some people find that interesting (I'll also do the same on djcolickyboy.com). So this blog isn't going away.

Happy birthday

Two years ago, this dance mix blog was launched, more as a place for some of my local friends to download my DJ mixes. Since then, it's grown to a blog where people literally all over the world are listening and becoming fans. Big props to everyone, and especially the subscribers, for their encouragement and support.

When this blog first dropped, the first mix posted was an 80s mix. Today, I posted a new 80s mix to celebrate. Hope you dig it.

Post title correction

Yesterday, I mistakenly labeled the post for the new Nonstop New Wave Mix as #31 when it should have been #30. The tag in the mp3 file is correct but the title of the post was incorrect. So if you were naming the mp3 file based on the title of the post, it's going to be incorrect. Sorry about that. I've since corrected the title of the post.

Michael Jackson Megamix update #2

Well, as is typical when I try to reupload a re-produced DJ Mix, something goes awry. This time, the file was cut short (46.6 MB instead of 82.5 MB) and getting cut off after playing for like 33 minutes or whatever instead of an hour. I re-re-upped the MJ Megamix and tested the download...it's now correct at 82.5 MB. If you downloaded it, make sure your file is the correct size. Thanks!

Michael Jackson Megamix update

I added an intro to the Michael Jackson Megamix today (and making the mix exactly an hour long) and subtly touched up a couple points in the mix. If you're interested in the new version and you downloaded the mix before 4:30 PM CST today, feel free to download it again and replace the prior version.
